Test GasPass on Google Play
GasPass is moving to the Google Play Store. Before Google lets a new app go public, at least 12 engineers have to test it there for two weeks. If you use GasPass on Android, you can help in about two minutes, and you'll get updates from Play automatically from then on.
Already have GasPass from this website? The Play version installs over the top of it. Your customers, records and settings all stay. Don't uninstall it first: uninstalling deletes everything stored in it.
How to join
Do this on your Android phone, signed in to Google Play with the Google account you want to use.
- Join the testers group Tap the button, then Join group. Only I can see who's in it, and you won't get any emails from it.
- Accept the test Tap the button, then Become a tester. If it says the app isn't available, wait a few minutes after joining the group and try again.
- Install from Google Play Tap Download it on Google Play on the same page, or search Play for GasPass, and tap Install (or Update if you already have it). It may take a few hours to appear after you join.
- Keep it for at least 14 days Use it as you normally would. Google counts testers who stay in the test for the full two weeks.
Questions
Is it the same app? Yes. The same app, signed with the same key as the download on this site, which is why it can install over the top without losing anything.
Does it cost anything? No. GasPass is free on Play too, and there's still no account and no sign-up.
What does Google see? Your Google account's email, shown to me so I can see who's in the test, and the usual anonymous install and crash statistics Google gives every developer. Nothing you put into GasPass. See the privacy policy.
Can I leave the test? Yes, any time, from the same Become a tester page. GasPass stays on your phone.
No Android phone? iPhone users test through TestFlight instead.
